When report Parameter Sets are saved by an individual Banner-user, these parameter sets will remain in the system until the user takes steps to delete them. This page explains how to delete unwanted saved parameters using the Banner pages GJAPDFT and GJRJPRM.

For more information about saving parameter sets, refer to our "Three Ways to Save a Banner Report" page.

The process for deleting a parameter set depends on the type of parameter set you wish to delete. Two types exist:

  1. Saved Parameter Sets which have been named by the user. These parameter types are accessible by clicking on the "down arrow" just to the right of the "Parameter Set" block in any given Banner report. Directions on how to delete these parameter sets are provided below.

  2. Unnamed "Blank" Parameter Sets, which are created when a user checks the "Save Parameter Set As" checkbox on the bottom left corner of a Banner report screen (but does not type in a name for the parameter set). These unnamed parameter sets become the "default" parameters for the user for that report.

Deleting SAVED Parameter Sets

Part I:

  1. From the Banner Main Menu, type GJAPDFT, then press Enter on your keyboard.

  2.  In the "Process" field, type the name of the report for which you wish to remove saved parameters. (Example: SWRUNOF)

  3. Click the down arrow next to the "Parameter Set" field on the upper right:

  4. From the list that appears, select the saved parameter set you wish to delete by double-clicking on it. (Also: write down the name of the parameter set. You will need this name later, in Part II below.)

  5. Click the Go button and then the Next Section  icon twice, or just click with your mouse into the third section of the page, "User Default." The cursor will move to the User Default block (see picture below).

       6. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top of your screen and choose "Clear Data" from the drop-down menu.

NOTE: Check the Hint/Status line at the to right corner of your Banner screen to be sure you do not receive the following error message:
*ERROR* User level default value of NULL is invalid

This error message indicates you are attempting to remove parameters that were saved by another user.

Unless you receive the above error message, you probably will not receive any confirmation that you have completed the above steps.

       7. Click exit Exit on the top right to exit the screen.

Part II:

  1. From the Banner Main Menu, type GJRJPRM and press Enter on your keyboard.

  2. Click the Filter  icon to clear the form.

  3. Click on Add Another Field and select the "Process" field, type the name of the report that corresponds to the parameter set you are deleting (example: SWRUNOF).

  4. Click on Add Another Filed and select the "Parameter Set" field, type the name of the parameter set you are deleting.

  5. Click the Go icon.

  6. Click the Delete  icon to remove the parameter set name.

  7. Click the Save button.

The message "Transaction Complete" will appear on the bottom left of the screen, confirming that your deletion is complete.

Deleting Unnamed "Blank" Parameter Sets

Unnamed "Blank" Parameter Sets are created when a user checks the "Save Parameter Set As" checkbox on the bottom left corner of a Banner report screen without naming the parameter set. This unnamed parameter set becomes the "default" parameter set for that report (for that user). Directions for deleting these blank parameter sets is detailed below.

  1. From the Banner Main Menu page, type GJAPDFT, then press Enter.

  2. In the "Process" field, type the name of the report for which you wish to remove parameters.
(In the screen print example above, SWRUNOF is the name of the report for which parameters are being deleted.)

  3. Leave the "Parameter Set" field blank.

  4. Click the Go button and then Next Section  icon. The cursor will move to the User Default block (surrounded in RED in the screen shot above).

  5. From the Menu Bar at the top of your screen, choose Tools, then select "Clear Data".

You should see a number, such as an ID number, or a series of other numbers in the User Default field.

NOTE: Check the Hint/Status line at the bottom left corner of your Banner screen to be sure you do not receive the following error message:
*ERROR* User level default value of NULL is invalid

This error message indicates you are attempting to remove parameters that were saved by another user.

Any blank parameters you have created are now deleted.
