Bookmarking Banner Pages & Reports for Easy Access ('Personal Menu')




There is a way to bookmark those hard-to-remember Banner pages and report names so you don’t have to remember them every time. It’s called “Bookmarking,” or using the Personal Menu. Like bookmarking your favorite webpages on the Internet, it’s a way to mark the places in Banner you visit most.

With the Personal Menu feature, you can build a list of commonly-used pages and avoid having to type in the page names each time you need to access them. Once you have set up your Personal Menu, these commonly used pages can be accessed by simply double-clicking on them.


Directions:
  1. From the Banner Main Menu, double-click on the folder "My Banner" (see picture above).
    • Double-clicking will open your My Banner folder so you can view its contents.

  2. If your Personal Menu has not been accessed before, double click on the line that says: "Empty; Select to Build."
    • If your Personal Menu has been accessed before, double-click on the line that says "Organize My Banner" at the bottom of the list, as shown in the picture above.

  3. The Banner page GUAPMNU will open. You will see two main sections, one on the left side and one on the right side.

  4. On the right side of your screen, type the name of the first page you wish to add in the first line of the "Object" column.

  5. Press Tab (or Enter) on your keyboard.

  6. A description of the page will automatically appear to the right of the page name (see picture above). (You can type over this description if you want to create your own, alternate description.)

  7. Click with your mouse (or use the Down-Arrow on your keyboard) to move to the next line and type in the next Banner page or report.

  8. Click the Save button.

  9. Click the exit Exit icon to return to the Banner Main Menu.

    To see the changes you have made, log out of Banner and log in again. OR, click the blue "Menu" link near the upper right-hand corner of the Banner Main Menu screen to refresh the screen and see your changes.

Adding to the Personal Menu
  1. Double click on "My Banner" in Banner's main menu.
  2. Double click on "Organize My Banner [GUAPMNU]."
  3. Type the new page or report name in the next available line in the Object column on the right side
    of your screen. Next, press Tab or Enter and the page Description will appear.
  4. To insert a page or report name between two existing lines, click the Insert icon, then type the page name in the inserted line.
  5. Click the Save button.
  6. Click the exit Exit icon to return to Banner's main menu.

To see the changes you have made, log out of Banner and log in again. OR, click the blue "Menu" link near the upper right-hand corner of the Banner Main Menu screen to refresh the screen and see your changes.

Removing an Item from the Personal Menu
  1. Double click on "My Banner" in Banner's main menu.
  2. Double click on "Organize My Banner [GUAPMNU]."
  3. Place the cursor on the line you wish to remove.
  4. Click the Remove icon to delete that line.
  5. Click the Save button.
  6. Click the X Exit icon to return to Banner's main menu.
