The Faculty Workload report PWRNIFT shows Faculty Release Workload as well as a summary of total instructional and release workload for Full Time Faculty per term. Depending on the parameter values you select, PWRNIFT can be run to show instructor workload for one or several terms, one instructor or all instructors within a specified department or division.

PWRNIFT serves two primary functions:

  • To check for potential data entry errors regarding Faculty Release Time, entered in the 2nd block of SIAASGN.
  • For supervisors to review total FTE and release load for instructors in a given department or division.

Click on the image at right to see what the completed report looks like. The report shows the instructor's G Number, Name, Term, Release Type and Code, Department, Total Non-Instructional Workload, and Total Overall Workload. In addition, the report indicates whether the instructor's total workload is over or under the FTE workload guidelines specified in the Faculty Contract. Only instructors with a Faculty Release workload for the term specified will appear on the report.

ParameterWhat to Type

01 Term Code

The academic Term for the class(es) in question -- for example, 201203 for Summer 2012.

You can specify multiple terms by typing in the first term code, then clicking on the Insert icon. In the blank line that appears, type "01" (for parameter #1) and then type in the second term code in the "values" column.

02 Faculty ID

The G# for the faculty member you want -- for example, G00321xxx.

If you are running a report for all instructors within a given department or division, leave the default of "%" for all.

You can specify multiple G#'s for several instructors by typing in the first term code, then clicking on the Insert icon. In the blank line that appears, type "01" (for parameter #1) and then type in the second term code in the "values" column.

03 Orgn Code

The budget code (Organization Code) for the department of division you want -- for example, A40502.

If you are NOT running a report based on Org. Code, leave the default of "%" for all.

You can specify a group of Org.'s by typing a partial Org Code with the "%" wildcard; for example, A405% for all instructors within the Sylvania Health and Family Studies Division, or B% for all instructors at the Rock Creek Campus.

04 Release Code

The type(s) of Faculty Release(s) you want your report to show.

We recommend the default of "%" for ALL release types, in most cases.

You can specify one or several release types by adding a new line as detailed in the instructions above for Parameters 01 and 02.

To view a list of Release Types, with your curser in the Values column of the Release Code line click on the 3 dots , located just to the right.

05 Release Dept. Code

The Department Code for the department you want, as entered in the 2nd block of SIAASGN.-- Example: BI for Biology.

If you are NOT running a report based on Department Code, leave the default of "%" for all.

06 Min Target FTE Load

The minimum per-term Full Time Faculty FTE you want the report to compare against your instructors' Term FTE. If your instructors' FTE falls below this minimum, the report will give you a message stating that the instructor's workload falls below the minimum target load you have specified.

We recommend the default of ".9" in most cases to reflect the guidelines of the Faculty Contract.

07 Max Target FTE Load

The maximum per-term Full Time Faculty FTE you want the report to compare against your instructors' Term FTE. If your instructors' FTE exceeds this maximum, the report will give you a message stating that the instructor's workload exceeds the maximum target load you have specified.

We recommend the default of "1.15" in most cases to reflect the guidelines of the Faculty Contract.
